Paris Highlights & Memories from a Multi-generational Trip
We did a lot on the Paris trip, because, yanno, it’s Paris. But as much as we loved all of the things that were planned, our favorite things, and favorite memories, were when we were just walking around the city or hanging out. Some recommendations for those “little things” to work in throughout your trip:
- Eat gelato. Lots of gelato. You have probably had gelato in America, but it is not the same as European gelato. It could possibly be even better than ice cream. Some places, when putting it on a cone, shape it into a flower. We think most foods taste better when they’re shaped like flowers, but that’s just us.
- Go to a French bakery for breakfast, or anytime, because the croissants and pastries are amazing.
- Sit at an outdoor cafe and watch the world go by. In the late afternoon, we usually had some free time before dinner, so the parents would hang out at a cafe near our hotel. We recommend getting a drink (which could be alcohol, soda or coffee), sitting outside (if it’s summer), talking, and enjoying the atmosphere. The cool thing about most French restaurants is the setup of the chairs outside. The chairs are set to face the street, instead of each other. Perfect for people watching.
- Walk along the banks of the Seine (but don’t Segway there!). There are stalls, or shops, stacked next to each other selling everything from books to art. Even if you don’t buy anything, they’re cool to see.
